Hello!
First off, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Katia. My life has been the tale of the unexpected. The things that I planned and expected to happen never happened. Things that I never dreamed of happened. Through it all is the hand of my incredible God. I would not be here today if it were not for him. Oh for a thousand tongues to sing his praise! :D :D :D
My home is in northeast Indiana with my parents, two dogs, Fritzi and Skye, two geese, two turkeys, and 16 chickens at last count. My two brothers share an apartment less than an hour away from my home. Currently, I work part time as a custodian and am trying to figure out where to take my career next. Two institutions of higher learning, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast and Grace College count me as an alumni.
My time at Grace College was completely unexpected and one of the greatest blessings of my life. I had the great honor of being in the first cohort of a new program, Grace Opportunities for Adult Learners (GOAL). The program's leaders and professors are some of the most special people I have ever met and there are no words to say how much they blessed me. My cohort was also a great blessing to me.
In 2004, I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism. Having AS means that I often miss many basic social cues etc so it's difficult to fit in and build relationships. However, with the help of my Lord and a few people he's placed in my life, I am learning.
I love helping my family any way I can around our home and caring for all the critters. In my spare time you can usually find me reading, crocheting, cross stitching, or writing in my diary while listening to music. Now that I have no more college classes for the time being, I want to master the art of sewing. I'm also an active member of my county's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Other random things about me: my favorite places on earth are remote great lakes beaches, my thumb is half green and half brown, chocolate hates me, and I LOVE learning new things.
And so I press on in life. I know not what it holds-marriage? Career at an employer? Self employment? More college? A move? But I DO know that my God will never leave me :D :D :D
It's been nice meeting you all and I look forward to meeting more of you! :)
