About Me:

April 2014: We Westbrooks are now a family of three! Just uploaded a few pictures from recent months. Motherhood has been the hardest and most amazing job of my life, and I'm ever more thankful for my Father's patience with me. I miss keeping in touch with friends, but time is limited these days. I don't check in here often, so feel free to add me on FB or check out our periodically-updated family blog.

Jan 2012: Life keeps getting faster and fuller for me so I'm not around HSA much at all. Miss you folks! Check out my God-written love story and the photo gallery there for a peek into what my life has held of late. :D

God's amazing, y'know? :D

I have fun knowing who's stopped by, so do me a favor and leave a FN, will you? :D

Who am I? Sometimes I'm not sure I even know how to answer that question. I'm an indoorsy person who's grown up on a farm, a non-denominational homechurcher-at-heart who attends an independent Baptist church, one who appears staid and stolid at first glance but has an unpredictable crazy streak, one who avoids the limelight yet eagerly shares music on stage, an opinionated gal who detests controversy and rocking the boat, a naturally timid introvert who wants to impact her corner of the world for Jesus, an enthusiastic fan of homeschooling who feels woefully inadequate to teach her own hopefully-someday children, one who delights in order and always has a cluttered desk, a routine-oriented, habitual person who's grown up flexible, expecting the unexpected, a girl who never wanted a "career," yet has started a dozen small businesses and currently stays busy as a graphic design freelancer....and one who doesn't like trying to sum up herself in a brief public profile description. :-)

I'm often found on Facebook, AIM, LJ, and elsewhere.

Favorite Books:

As a chronic bookworm, I have a constant stack of in-progress books. Particularly enjoyable are books that make me think, regardless of whether or not I fully agree with them (I usually don't). The bulk of my reading these days is non-fiction, usually under the label of Christian.

Current and recent perusals, all recommendable:
Turn My Mourning Into Dancing by Henri Nouwen
Believing God by Beth Moore
Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman
Breaking Free by Beth Moore
The Holy Wild by Mark Buchanan
Ruthless Trust by Brennan Manning
Hope Has Its Reasons by Rebecca Manley Pippert
Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper
The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning
Cries of the Heart by Ravi Zacharias
The Heavenly Man by Brother Yun and Paul Hattaway
When I Don't Desire God by John Piper

Favorite Music:

I'm an amateur singer, banjo picker, and pianist who finds great joy in making and sharing music however possible. Hymns, gospel, celtic, mild bluegrass, folk, select CCM, classical... :-)
