Hi, I'm Nicole Kippel. I am 30, my husband Steven is 28 and we were both home schooled our whole lives. We have been happily married since September 25, 2004. We were both homeschooled our whole lives, and while it was a fairly positive experience for both of us (because we are both very self directed and academic) we no longer plan to homeschool our children. Adoption, race, etc bring up many complex issues.
We are in the process to foster-adopt 3 children as we feel that God is showing us that the word commands care of orphans and there are so many children in need of homes, why have biological children? They are African-American, "Kay" (not allowed to post their real names online) is 4, "Buddy" is 3 and "Davey" is 2. They are absolutely precious! We may take their 10 year old half brother "Jer" as well, still praying about that. So excited/nervous!
Favorite Books:
the Bible, apocyrphal and gnostic texts, adoption/fostering/parenting books, Crime and Punishment and the Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky, the Kingdom of God is Within You by Leo Tolstoy, the Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne, the Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey, the Shack, the Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, Lord of the Rings, the Problem of Pain by CS Lewis, cookbooks

Favorite Music:
All genres except Country. Favorites are metal and hardcore. Favorite bands include: Extol, Eisley, mewithoutyou, Point of Recognition, Coldplay, U2, the Cure, the Decemberists, Johnny Cash and much much more.

That's awesome how you and your husband are as close as ever despite tough circumstances. I'm sure that's a good feeling, seeing as how "stuff" is so fleeting, and relationship is what matters.

You bet. I can't believe it took me so long!
If/when you find time, it's worth getting to know some of the people here. Check out the events page for stuff happening near you. In person is the best way of course.

You know that is really funny because my husband is going to college at the moment to become a physical therapist assistant and then will go on to become a physical therapist. I am going to college as well I would like to become a psychologist. I recently started college shortly after having our third child. I always wanted to be a stay at home mom, but I decided that I need a little more challenge in my life. My husband thought I was going insane, but he was totally behind my decision after explaining to him why. God works in funny ways sometimes. Have a great day.

lol. I know what you mean, it was like firecrackers when God showed us that we were meant to be together. We do feel so bless to be together. It was not until our second week of dating that he told me that he was 19, I thougt well he's legel. It was a little weird because he was the same age as my brother. Everyone thinks John is older them me because he is such a big guy. So what do you and your husband do?

hmm, that's tough. I've been to C-stone several times (but it's been 10 years), and that really ups the number of bands I've seen live.
Stavesacre is pretty much my favorite band and they were good live. Very passionate music. Living Sacrifice and sixfeetdeep were good.
I've also seen POD, Saviour Machine, The 77's, Plankeye, Bride, Galactic Cowboys, Tourniquet, Disciple, Grammatrain, Common Children, Sometime Sunday, Yonderboy and more that I've forgotten.

great list of metal songs!
I wish more girls were into the heavier stuff. I see some at concerts, but the really-into-it fans tend to be guys.

So cool that you are familiar with Nourishing Traditions and traditional foods! My family (especially my mom and I) is "into" that kind of thing.
I enjoy reading your posts in the forums!
Have a great day!

Hi there! I just wanted to drop by and say it was neat hearing what you had to say in the "how established should one be" thread. Very encouraging to hear your story!
