Hello all, I am private pilot Rotorcraft, Helicopter, working towards commercial and instrument right now with 80+ hours currently. I intend to get CFI and CFII, then work as an instructor. Maybe after will be some airplane ratings. But helicopters are cool enough that I'm willing to be the redheaded stepchild on the airport. I am based out of Arlington WA, KAWO which has a large experimental and ultralight population. Also has Paul Allens Flying Heritage collection. I have been around fully totally restored Spitfires, Mustangs and ME109s. These are better than ones in virtually any museum as paul allen spares no expense to get them to original condition, and they really fly them. Right now I am just fueling them, but maybe someday I'll get a ride!! Also Hans has German Alpha jet trainers along with hueys and BO-105's.

Sounds like an amazing airport!
I'm envious of your rotorwing experience... That's got to be my next rating.

Lol, your experience is nothing to sneeze at either. Only recently have I begun to be involved in aviation. 9 months ago I had zero hours, and had only flown as a passenger on commercial with a few exceptions in small aircraft. It would have been cool to have grown up in that atmosphere. But I do have some natural talent and a LOT of determination.
The easiest way to describe flying a helicopter is like driving on ice at highway speeds in a high performance sports car. It demands total and constant concentration, but is insanely fun too. However the 1.1 secs to react to a problem or you die with no recovery possible, does drive home the seriousness of it. I do want to fly planes, just to be able to enjoy the scenery and relax.

A very late update.. I now am a commercial helicopter pilot with instrument as well as CFI and CFI Instrument. I am currently working as an instructor, but am mostly training in the simulator for instrument students. It's just where the greatest need is at the school I'm working at. It's a wonderful feeling to know I'm helping others get to their dream of flying as well. Very Happy
