Hello everyone,
My name is Royal and I enjoy backpacking, running, cycling, climbing, swimming and just about everything else under the sun. Pun intended.

I've done backpacking trip of length in excess of 200 miles, I've riden my road bike up to about 70 miles in a day, and about 50 doing mtb. My older brother is a profession cyclist so I let him do most of the riding. I've run a marathon distance, but never raced one. I ran cross country for a season and loved it.

I rrreaaally want to go canyoneering one of the days. I've love to do a tri... the longer the better (I'm trying a short one this summer).

This could go on for ever so I'm stoping now.

peace, Royal Magnell

Canoeing or canyoneering? I like both, but I haven't done much of either. I'm trying to talk my brother into going on a canoe trip with me when I get home. I've also wanted to do Teyna canyon for a long time.

Yes, zion is famous for its narrows but I don't know how much it has in the way of canyoneering other than that. The entire four corners area is loaded with tons of amazing slot canyons and I'd love to do any of those. There are supposed to be some extremely remote canyons with amazing rappels... and THAT is what I'd like to do.

You're fast becoming a very interesting person. Do you know other people who want to do dangerous stuff like this?

I have several books on Canyoneering and all the equipment needed. I just need to be where the canyons are.

Thanks, I like to think of myself as interesting as well Smile.

As far as knowing other people that are as crazy as myself...I know a few but not many. My younger brother Christian has usually been a willing partner in craziness. I know a retired guy who promptly went off and hiked 2,600 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail the year after he retired. He's one tough 70 year old. Most of my family likes to do some sort of crazy adventuring. I have a few friends that enjoy a sport or two but few that are simply game for anything. The amount of stuff I've been able to do has lessered in the last two years because college and life is putting a crimp on my trips Sad. Summer is rapidly approaching though, and I'll do something this summer...we'lll see what.

Well, I've never owned a long enough rope to do a serious canyon but I have just about everything else I need to go canyoneering. I hear you though, the canyons don't seem to be where I live either.

I guess I forgot to say where I live. I live in a small northern California town named Occidental. We're hardly neighbors Razz. However, for the next two more years I spend most of my time at school in Purcellville, Virginia.

Ah. I met your sister at the HSA reunion.

Are you going to the reunion?

We should plan something.

Yes, I bet you did. Noelle seemed to meet just about everyone on this site at the reunion. I guess I might go... I hadn't thought about it before. When/where is it? And sure, if I happened to go or if we're ever in each other's backyard I'd love to plan something.
