Anyone taken it? Worth it? Easy to get on an ambulance after you've had the training?
My bro and I have the opportunity to take the course, starting in September. I'm thinking that might be the plunge that gets me going in the Medical field.

I'm finishing up EMT-I training. Well, I actually am finished, I'm just taking my final tests right now. Tomorrow actually. I'll let you know whether it was worth it. It all depends on if I pass or not.
It was a lot of fun, esp. the ambulance rides.

It's good, it's fun, it's easy...
It can be heartbreaking at times. The job I mean. You'll get the chance to scrape people off pavement, get puked on, smell urine and feces, hold back screaming mothers while you're doing rescue breathing on their baby, console family members when their loved one doesn't make it...
Oh, and it's possibly the most rewarding job you could ever have. You'll have the opportunity to patch up little kids' scrapes, restart someone's heart, deliver a baby, make an elderly patient who soiled themself still feel like a person, hold someone's hand as the firefighters are extricating them from a vehicle on its roof in ravine... yeah, it's pretty much one of the most satisfying, rewarding, self-fulfilling jobs you could ever have!
Go for it!

Joel...that's a pretty cool way to sum the job up. Thanks for taking time to post.

well It is for sure worth it !!! And the US is some 40,000 to 60,000 short on EMTs and Paramedics. So it's very easy to get on a truck :)Now there will always be a need for emts but where I'm from it's getting harder to get on full time as an EMT. It's become a money thing sadly, because EMS can charge alot more when a Paramedic rides in the back, and with a double medic truck, there is always going to be one riding the patient in. But I think once you hit the truck, you'll want to go on and get your medic cert:) I've even heard of a few places offer the advanced course that can be done in 6 months. But they only have a 45% pass rating lol but I hope that helps Not that you could make thru such a course J/K you would be an awesome EMT:) And congrats to your brother on making it
