When I transfer my stories from paper to computer, I use Microsoft Word. The most irritating thing about using Word is it always tries to change my writing to something else. The latest correction it wanted me to make was to change "maid" to "house cleaner." I guess Word is trying to tell me I'm being politically incorrect by describing a character as a maid. Does anybody else have their writing program suggest these types of changes?

I've actually found OpenOffice to be fairly useful. It's intuitive in that it does what you tell it to instead of actively trying to be intuitive, if that makes sense. So far I've avoided several issues I had with Word stepping on my toes to "fix" things. It does use an autocomplete function, but it only takes hold if you hit enter, and is easy to get the hang of. Also, OpenOffice is free, though I'm not sure if it works on windows.
