Alloy of law is coming out soon. The trilogy was a great series, I'm excited to see an new entry in that world. Anyone else read Mistborn? Are you fans?

I am, and so's my wife. We even wrote a song based parts or the second book.

Fast-paced, exciting action with a great plot. What's not to love?

I'm a huge fan of Mistborn, and Sanderson in general (including his works that finish up the Wheel of Time series for the late Robert Jordan). His worlds are...for lack of a better term, exquisite. The amount of thought and detail that goes into creating his orderly, cohesive systems...something I try to emulate in my own writing.

Same goes for David Eddings, akshually.

LOL. Oh wow, I was just browsing the Library for a "favorite books" thread, because I wanted to rave about Mistborn. XD I haven't finished it yet, so I can't speak to the plot itself as a whole yet, but what I love about it is, kinda like Jack said, how detailed and thought out everything is, and his writing style is rich... and yet it's not bogged down. That's my issue with most fantasy novels--the story feels bogged down by the world and the writing style, and I the Reader don't feel engaged. This, to me, is the happy medium between those novels that are "engaging" but cheap thrills, and heavy-handed Lord of the Rings-esque novels. So I's very happy to've discovered it. ^___^

Just finished the first book. Literally; like, a half hour ago.

I thought it was very good. It took me a while to get into it, though not as long as some other books have. The Allomancy system was kinda weird at first, but very inventive. I liked most of the characters, and the plot was good. And when it got action-y, i actually kinda read it instead of just skimming; not sure if that was the writing or me, but either way it was a good thing.
