Does everyone have a general idea about how big of a family they want? Do you just want one or two kids, as many as possible, or somewhere in between?

Since I don't have any kids, I can't say for certain how many I want, but I think at least three. Four actually sounds really good to me.

Of course it all depends on how many God wants me to have, but I'd love to have a very large family - a dozen or more. Smile
There's 9 children in my family and I'm beginning to think we're medium sized with all the families we're meeting with 14, 15 and 16. Very Happy

As many as God will give me--but I would love to have at least 10.

I'm with Sarah Rebecca. I want to have as many as God wants me to have. At my age, I might not get the amount I would like since I'm not married yet. I figure I will probably have 6 or 8.

I've always said, "At least ten!" and I'll stick with that! Wink Of course only the Lord knows!

Someone did a poll on this awhile ago in the main forum, but they limited it to 12 children...it made the choice hard for me! I will take what the Lord blesses me with, but I have always considered 12 as the beginning. I guess that answers your question! Laughing We have a lot of friends that have a baker's dozen, and the more you are around them, the less children they seem to have. Confused Smile

From the numbers view one thing has been very clear to me, if you have just two children, you aren't even keeping up the population, let alone mulitplying it. Especially when you figure in accidents, sicknesses, and now terrorist attacks. How are we going to have Godly generations if the children don't even exist?

And from the human interest view...children are an all round blessing! Blessings on all those that have had the wisdom to raise a "large" family of 13 for God! Very Happy

I definitely respect women who want a large family, but there are a lot of reasons why think a smaller family (3-5 kids probably) would be better for me.

I was also wondering if anyone else hopes to adopt? I want to have at least one child biologically, but I also want to adopt children if at all possible.

I've always thought 6 or 7 would be a nice number. However, I've always said that I want as many kids as my (future) husband and I could responsibly raise (physically, mentally, spiritually, financially, etc). Whether that is more or less is yet to be determined. Very Happy

Whatever the Lord chooses. I will take the bunch if that is the Lord's will for my life. Children are a blessing from the Lord and I definately do not want to limit the blessings He was to bring into my life!

I hope its alright to jump into discussion even though I'm new. Please forgive me if its not. Surprised)

Ultimately, I want the number of children to be determined by the Lord but I must admit that more than 6 would please me very much. Mr. Doug Phillips had a very good post some while ago. I tried to find the link but to no avail. To summarize...if a husband and wife had 16 children and they were raised in the admonition of the Lord and all of those 16 went on to have 16 children and raise them in the admonition of the Lord and so on and so forth... Then within so many generations that will be one million children who will have been raised to be those lighted arrows into the darkness that Ps. 127 tells us about. Of course, as the Lord wills but what a inspiration!

Be blessed,

Of course you can jump in, Heidi!

I think I would like to have around 6 children, maybe even eight. I think I could handle that.

Of course, if God gives me more, then I will be happy, but somehow I don't think I will have more than 6. Smile

EDIT: I can't get used to this laptop...

I have always wanted at the very least, 12. While I know that I will be happy with however few children the Lord allows me to have, I have wanted the number to be on the larger side. I hope to marry a man from either a large family, or at least from a family with a large family mind set!! Smile

If I am able to actually give birth to children, I will keep having them as long as the Lord blesses me with them!! Smile If I am unable to physically have any, {this has become a growing fear lately, due to some of my health issues} I hope to look into adoption.

Since five, I have KNOWN I was to be a wife and mother. I have never felt the Lord had anything else in mind for me. It was not until a few weeks ago, that I realized that the promise I felt was to BE a mother, not give birth to children.

One way or another, I want to have a very large family!!
