As promised - we've got 2014 Reunion date and location finalized before the end of October Smile

We are very pleased to announce that the 2014 Homeschool ALUMNI National Reunion will once again be hosted by Aldersgate Retreat Center, in Salem, Oregon!

The official dates have been confirmed as: Wednesday, July 2nd - Saturday, July 5th, 2014.

This is the first time we’ve hosted the National Reunion at the same facility twice, so if you couldn’t make it in 2013, come see what you’re missing!

Stay tuned for more information in the weeks to come.

Mark your calendars - hope to see you there!

P.S. Please note: this is a change from the “save the date” date we announced a few weeks ago - sorry about that! We had everything lined up for those other dates and then, as they sometimes do, unforeseen circumstances pushed us in this direction. These are the FINAL dates though - contracts are signed and reservations are booked! Thanks for your understanding! See you soon!

Open Invite to Reunion English Country Dance

Wed Sep 04, 13 3:36 pm

[ Trackbacks (0) ] [ Permalink ]

We've opened up Friday evening from 8-11pm as an open time for folks to drop in and join the ECD or just visit. This invite is open to homeschool grads and students 16 and up (though under 18 will need a parent there too).

The dance will be called by Laura Hatch and will feature special musical guests Wispering Roses.

We're asking for a $10/person donation and you will need to sign in at the auditorium when you come.

If you're semi-local and want to just drop in for the evening, this is your opportunity!

Driving directions can be found here:

Please note: We can only have guests during these hours: Friday 8-11pm and you'll need to sign in at the auditorium.

Hope you can make it out!

10-spots for "honorary grads" at the Reunion

Wed Aug 07, 13 12:09 pm

[ Trackbacks (0) ] [ Permalink ]

We're going to set aside 10 spots for "honorary grads" at the HSA Reunion this year on a first-come-first serve basis. This is something we've been asked about quite a bit this year, so we're gonna give it a try. The Reunion is primarily by and for homeschool grads and their families, and while we want to keep that unique focus, we don't want to be all cliquey at the expense of folks who share our faith, values, and even convictions on homeschooling and family discipleship. So for those non-homeschool grads who would really love to come for the conversation and fellowship, we're setting aside 10 spots this year.

Honorary grads will need to be invited by an HSA member who's been to a past Reunion and who'll be coming with you this year... so if you've got a non-homeschooled friend who'd really like to be a part of this, go-ahead and invite them out!

This is the first time we've done this, so let us know what you think. Like it? Love it? Hate it? Have friends that will be interested? Let us know Smile

More info about the Reunion here of course:

Gregg Harris Speaking at Reunion!

Wed Aug 07, 13 10:15 am

[ Trackbacks (0) ] [ Permalink ]

We're very pleased to announce that Gregg Harris will be speaking at the National Reunion in Salem, Oregon, September 4th-17th!

Gregg Harris is a Christian husband (widowed since 2010), and the father of seven children. He and his late wife were pioneer leaders in the family-restoration, home-schooling and parental-rights movements since 1980. By God's grace he has been privileged to instruct over 180,000 families through his seminars. His book, The Christian Home School (1988, 1995) has become a best-selling classic in its field. Three of his sons, Joshua, Alex & Brett Harris, are also best-selling authors. Gregg serves as Director of Noble Institute through which he presents evangelistic discipleship events and campaigns.

Have heard you Gregg, or his sons Joshua, Alex & Brett Harris speak before?

Gregg will bring some great perspective to the presentations and discussions at this year's Reunion.

Early-rates extended. Gal's bunkhouse full. Need more guys!

Tue Aug 06, 13 1:25 pm

[ Trackbacks (0) ] [ Permalink ]

It's shaping up to be a great Reunion! The girls bunkhouse is sold out, but we've still got room in the guys bunkhouse and in both the guys and gals wings of the lodge - and there are only 19 days left to register so don't miss it!

It's looking like we're going to be able to extend the early-registration rates for at least another week, so that's another incentive to register if you're still trying to decide.

Guys are always the last to register, but right now the gals are outnumbering the guys by a fair margin... so spread the word and invite as many guys as you can! We understand school and work schedules are always a challenge, but the Reunion is a one-of-kind event you will not want to miss. You can go to any number of seminars or conferences, but where can you go to find real community with people who share your formative values and experiences? That's the heart of what the Reunion is about.

Why do you think it is that the guys are always the last to register? Are they scared of homeschoolers in general, and women-folk more specifically? What can we do to get more guys on board?

See you soon!
