Top 5 States: Oregon makes #5!
Wed Sep 05, 07 7:24 am
As of September 1, 2007 the HSA membership roles indicate that the greatest homeschool graduate population concentrations are in the following states:
- #1 Missouri.
- #2 California.
- #3 Texas.
- #4 Illinois.
- #5 Oregon.
The coveted #5 spot formerly belonged to Tennessee, but Oregon overtook the position with a a single new member lead. Currently, Oregon boasts 86 members and Tennessee follows with 85.
With 80 members, Colorado (currently #7) also has a chance at earning its place on the top five with an increase of just 6 more graduates. Spread the word, Coloradoans!
There are several ties between states this month.
- Michigan (#12) and Kansas (#13) are tied at 60 members each.
- Kentucky (#22), Georgia (#23), and Arkansas (#24) are triple-tied at 28 members each.
- Idaho (#27) and Arizona (#28 ) are tied at 25 members each.
- Maryland (#30), Nebraska (#31), and South Carolina (#32) are triple-tied at 21 members each.
- Louisiana (#34), Maine (#35), and New Mexico (#36) are triple-tied at 10 members each.
- New Jersey (#37) and New Hampshire (#38 ) are tied at 9 members each.
- Vermont (#39), North Dakota (#40), South Dakota (#41), and Mississippi (#42) are quadruple-tied at 8 members each.
- Nevada (#47), Rhode Island (#48 ), Utah (#49), Delaware (#50), and Hawaii (#51) are sextuple-tied at 2 states each.
Next month...who will break out of the ties? Who will enter the top 5? Will Missouri (#1) continue to lead with more than double the graduates as the #2 state, California? Will Texas (#3) gain just 27 more graduates to pass California (#2) in the running?
Check back for all these answers and more in next months Top Five Report. Until then, go tell the homeschool graduates in your area about HSA (and remind them to enter their zip codes when registering). We hope to see your state next in the top 5!

Haha, I thought the drama in the last few sentences wasn't quite normal for Camden, and so I checked the name of the poster.
It is exactly what I'd expect from Emilie C. - I can just hear the excitement in those questions.
Thanks for the update.

Hehe, this is so funny and exciting!!!!! Yay for MO and the many hours, days, months, years, we spent recruiting. I am glad other states are taking the initiative. Ah, and I suspected OR for a long time. (old joke with the Plett's and us.) But it is so neat to think of the states and almost knowing which family or groups that have been recruiting, to get their states up there. Good work everyone.

Wow! Oregon won 5th place by one person! Haha... could it be that Sarah Gale married Andrew Plett AND put Oregon over the top in one day!! Haha, that's awesome!
Good read Adam! Yep, this is Emilie C's first post as the official Top 5 States reporter! Great report Emilie!
