Top 5 States: Tennessee Overtakes Oregon!
Tue Oct 02, 07 3:05 pm
As of October 1, 2007, the HSA membership roles indicate that the greatest homeschool graduate population concentrations are in the following states:
- #1 Missouri.
- #2 California.
- #3 Texas.
- #4 Illinois.
- #5 Tennessee.
For a real-time report of the number of homeschoolers in each state see the following:

Tennessee has once again shot ahead of Oregon and reclaimed its former glory in the #5 spot, leaving Oregon (temporarily?) in the dust at #6. This saga is certainly not yet over! Tennessee (#5) is leading by only a 2-graduate margin (91 to 89), and Oregon (#6) could easily close this distance with the recruitment of only 3 more graduates. The drama continues...
Speaking of numbers, Illinois (#4) currently has 99 members. One more graduate recruited and Illinois would join the few states that hold the distinction of having 100+ members. Those states are Missouri (#1 with 335 graduates), California (#2 with 175 graduates), and Texas (#3 with 149 graduates).
The Gold Medal for increase in graduates this month goes to Missouri (#1) with an increase of 14 additional graduates from September 1 to October 1. Illinois (#4) and Michigan (#10) are tied for the Silver Medal with an increase of 7 graduates each, and the Bronze Medal goes to Iowa (#21) with an increase of 6 graduates last month.
Check back next month to see if Oregon (#6) will once again oust Tennessee (#5) from its place in the Top 5, or whether Tennessee (#6) has firmly established its foothold there. Will Illinois (#4) enter triple digits? Who will win the Gold Medal for most graduates recruited during the month of October? Will Puerto Rico (#52)
ever have more than 1 member??
All these answers and more will be found in next month's "Top Five Report." Until then, go tell the homeschool graduates in your area about HSA. We hope to see
your state next in the top 5!
