8 April 2007 Update

I have been keeping busy in the last few weeks. My diary (calendar) is also filling up for the spring.

*Happy Easter*
This morning I got up a little before 0600 to go to the Carlisle Cemetery for an ecumenical sunrise service. It was great joining with many of the other churches in Carlisle for the 0630 service. As the start of the service we listened to the morning symphony of birds chirping, a woodpecker hard at work, watched the sky turn purple then yellow and appreciated God's creation. Following this special service we went for hot porridge and hot cross buns. Hot cross buns are very popular here at Easter time because of the "cross" on the top of the bun. I did go back for seconds of porridge and asked, "Please, may I have some more." I then had time to get to the Carlisle Cathedral for Holy Eucharist. Later this afternoon I will go to my church's service.

Here in England Good Friday and Easter Monday are bank holidays. Therefore the office is closed. On Good Friday I went to a family's house for a short walk along the River Eden on the Hadrian Wall Footpath. This was followed by a late afternoon tea (dinner) of sandwiches and cakes. I had to make it an early night because I was assisting as a "pray bouncer" at the 24x7 prayer vigil organized by many of the churches here in Carlisle. For the last week preceding Easter the churches have come together to pray for the city of Carlisle. I was assisting from 0000-0800 Saturday morning.as the security guard/door keeper at the church hosting the prayer room.

Tomorrow I am going on a long walk in the Lakes with some of my colleagues. It should be really nice. The plan is to start early in the morning and walk one of the popular "horseshoe" walks around the three sides of a valley. This will encompass ridge walking between the 9 peaks around the valley. The views are considered some of the most lovely in the Lakes.

*Dancing*
A few weekends I organized and called for a English folk dance for the office. It was well attended and very much enjoyed. I began to get excited several days before the dance as I have missed very much going this type of dancing. There was a buzz in the office after the dance and many people have asked me to call again which I plan on doing. As I have mentioned in the past I have been going to a modern jive class. I enjoy the form of dancing well enough, but not as much as English Country Dance. One main reason I attend thee modern jive class is because of the opportunities I get to witness to the other attendees.

*Travel*
As I mentioned in my prayer letter I was in London two weekends ago. I will try get my photos up on the internet later this week. In 5 weeks I will be in Birmingham for a week of meetings.

I have just confirmed details for a trip to Croatia. OM's new ship the Logos Hope is in dry dock in Trogir, Croatia. At the end of May I will travel to the Logos Hope to assist their IT staff with building out their Windows infrastructure from 30/05-08/06. My sister and brother, Kelli and Lucas, will also be there as project workers. Kelli plans on staying on the ship until they leave dry dock and assist sailing it to Germany where the outfitting will complete. When Lucas and I fly back to England we will have one day in London together before he flies back to the US.
