Hello, I arrived safely nearly 1.5 weeks ago and went straight into a family holiday. It was really nice to spend time with the family. As some of you know, my brother has recently become engaged. I was able to briefly meet Melissa (my brother's fiancée) prior to going away on holiday.
Melissa was unable to join us, but I plan to use my time here in the US to get to know her better as she will be joining the family permanently in June.
The family holiday was spent in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where we went skiing and snowshoeing. It was great to get out and relax on the slopes without thinking about technology at all. We got nearly a foot of fresh snow each day I think. The most in one day was 25 inches.
I am beginning to get into the swing of furlough. I have not done it before so hopefully I am doing it correctly. My hope is to see as many people as possible to get reacquainted and hopefully to make new friends and gain new supporters. My schedule is beginning to fill up. I have a weekend already down in Missouri and up in Chicago scheduled.
While I am in the US I will not be doing much IT work for OM so I am quite keen on getting back to the UK and my work. I really love serving OM with my talents, but realize how important it is to continue my relationships here in the US through a strong prayer and financial support team.
I am writing this while still travelling back from Colorado on an overnight train. The train is a double decker with sleepers and coaches. I slept in coach in a seat. I find the train I am travelling in to be quite different than US commuter trains and European trains.
