Commanded to hate and love

Hate sin as God hates sin but love the sinner as God loves sinners: as Christ loves us.

Romans 12:9
"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good."

Ephesians 5:1-4
"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks."

Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Ephesians 2:4-5
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)"

Sometimes it hits people in the face when they realize that God is very capable of hatred. People wanna see God as this great big teddy bear in the sky that is only capable of love and can never be angry and can never hate. At first, it goes against our reason to think that a holy God would hate. But when you stop and think about it, it becomes clear that God wouldn't be a holy God if He didn't hate. God loves babies, therefore He hates abortion. He wouldn't be holy if He didn't. He loves Israel, so He curses those that curse Israel, just like He said He would. He wouldn't be holy if He didn't. He's a jealous God, so He hates the idols that we set up in our hearts over His place. He wouldn't be holy if He didn't, because that would be sharing His glory with another entity.

Okay, I guess I'm rambling. Ha ha. Sorry. Maybe I should go make a blog post of my own. =)

Naw, ramble all you want! You were doing good hehe

"People wanna see God as this great big teddy bear in the sky" The wording is hilarious (I was cracking up when I read it)... but the truth of it is pretty sad.

Great examples! Thank you.
