Did you ever make a really messy mistake? My little brother did today when he put Dawn in our dishwasher instead of the typical dishwashing detergent. I discovered the problem when I went to refill my water bottle. The floor around the dishwasher was six inches deep in soapy foam which spread out over at least three feet in all directions. There was also water everywhere. It was a mess. My poor little brother was trying to do the right thing but he messed up because his knowledge of soaps was limited.
I think we sometimes do similar things in real life. We try to do the Right Thing but we accidentally end up doing the Wrong Thing thanks to lack of information. Sometimes we forget that we don't know it all. Sometimes we forget that we need help. But even though we sometimes make a mess it's not always an entirely bad situation. Sometimes making mistakes helps us realize things about ourselves we didn't know before the disaster. When we're done fixing everything it turns out we've cleaned up a lot more than just the dishes.
