Do experiences out weight the truth of Scripture? Does our logic, experiences, feelings, emotions - our understanding determine what is true in Scripture? Does it determine what is right or wrong in life? Does Scripture determine how we interpret experiences, or do we let our experiences determine how we interpret Scripture?
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
On the other hand:
I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
