Top 5 States: Colorado Maintains Its Lead!
Sat Feb 02, 08 8:51 am
As of February 1, 2008, the HSA membership roles indicate that the greatest homeschool graduate population concentrations are in the following states:
- #1 Missouri.
- #2 California.
- #3 Texas.
- #4 Colorado.
- #5 Oregon.
For a real-time report of the number of homeschoolers in each state see the following: Alumni Network Population Distribution by State
Last month, Colorado
(#4) had overtaken its long-time rival, Oregon
(#5), and seized the #5 position. Though Oregon
(#5) vowed a comeback and did regain the #5 position, Colorado
(#4) maintained its razor edge lead and in fact climbed to the #4 position...though both states are technically tied at 112 members each.
Trampled as the rival states clambered for glory, the previous #4 state, Illinois
(#6), has been left behind in the #6 position. This is the first time in the history of the Top 5 States report that Illinois
(#6) has not held its place in the top 5. However, at 111 members, Illinois
catapault over both Oregon
(#5) and Colorado
(#4) and regain its old, long-standing #4 position. Does Illinois
(#6) have what it takes? We shall see...
Currently there is a three-way stranglehold in the category of the Gold Medal for greatest increase in HSA members between Texas
(#1), and Oregon
(#5), with an increase of 10 additional graduates each from January 1 to February 1. Colorado
(#4) takes home the Silver Medal with an increase of 8 additional graduates. Ohio
(#8 ), Tennessee
(#6) and Washington
(#9) are tied for the Bronze Medal with an increase of 7 graduates each.
Check back next month to see if Illinois
(#6) will pass up two states to regain its former position in the top 5! Will Oregon
(#5) break the tie and overtake its old adversary, Colorado
(#4)? Who will win the Gold Medal for most graduates recruited in the month of February?
Check back for all these answers and more in next month's Top Five Report. Until then, go tell the homeschool graduates in your area about HSA. We hope to see your state next in the Top 5!
