*Saying Goodbye*
It will be a little hard to leave everyone hear in the Midwest. I forget that I have so many friends and acquaintances that I will not be seeing for a long while (other than those attending my brother's wedding). It has been a great encouragement to reacquaint with you all after being away for the last 2 years. I hope that we can keep in touch even better over the next few years. Departure date is 8 days from today!
*Blog and RSS feed*
During the days while here in the US I have had a bit of spare time so I converted all my prayer updates into blog entries. For those that are new to receiving this update you can peruse through all the back entries to see what I have been doing for nearly the last 3 years. I will continue to update this blog with my updates so if you like you could subscribe to it as an RSS feed.
*Work*
I have a spent a few days while here in the US working on a few things for the office. It is mainly to keep my sanity during the day while waiting for evening to come around when I meet with people. The work is also needing to be done so I am glad that I can help even while here in the US.
I realized that I mentioned that I was replacing our office server over the Christmas holidays, but failed to mention how that went. Well, as I was preparing the hardware the Friday before Christmas I discovered that the new server had come with the wrong hardware. I tried to rectify this by quickly ordering the right thing, but it arrived the day I left England for the US which was too late. I was still able to go ahead with the upgrade, it just made the upgrade slightly more complicated than otherwise. It took me many hours to complete the upgrade and migrate all the data, but by the end I only had one small issue that was resolved the day everyone got back into the office after the holidays. In many ways I was very pleased with how easy the upgrade was and am really liking the processing power the new hardware provides.
*Cuba Photos*
My brother arrived back safely in the US. Just 4 days after Lucas' return Castro announced his resignation. Coincidence, yes or no? He put up some of his photos from here: http://picasaweb.google.com/lucashedding/200802Cuba. Don't get him started about the fruit juices in Cuba. He won't stop raving about them.
*Dance and a Friend's Wedding*
Last week Friday my brother organized a dance. We had four callers which is the most ever for our group. I called two of my most favourite dances. This actually was a disappointment because I was then not able to dance those dances. We had a good turnout even with the snowy weather and much fun was had by all.
A few photos from the dance:
I am dancing with my brother, his fiancee (Melissa) and Helena. Bethany Notgrass is calling.
Those in attendance at the dance.
After the late night at the dance I was up the next morning to travel to Kenosha, WI for a good friend's wedding. It was a large wedding with we think over 400 in attendance. I used the time at the reception afterwards to reconnect with the last few of my prayer and financial supporters. I am very much a people person and I really enjoyed seeing and talking with people I have not seen in quite a long while.
*Prayer Requests*
1. Safety in travel next week when I go back. It will be roughly 24 hours of travel before I get to Carlisle.
2. Wisdom as I begin my new role and figure out exactly what I am taking on
3. My family after I leave and they begin to miss me
