Naturally evil but loved

Wed Oct 20, 10 10:42 pm

Our nature is evil with no "spark of good." Our righteousness is only filthy rags before God. We can do no good and certainly cannot earn Godís salvation. What hope do we have?

Salvation cannot be earned but can only be accepted as a gift, and then we are "born again" and receive a new nature that is all good. We still have our old nature, but God can now work through us if we allow Him.

True good can only be performed within the will of God, by the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and by the authority of Jesus Christ.

1. To start out in the will of God, be saved and then join His church!
2. To know the leadership of the Holy Spirit, read Godís Word!
3. To have the authority of Jesus Christ, work as a member of His church of whom Christ is the Head, the Leader, and the Authority!

Our nature and our "good works" without Jesus Christ:

Ephesians 2:2-3
"Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."

Romans 7:18, 8:8
"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.Ē ďSo then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."

Isaiah 64:6
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

1 John 4:19
"We love him, because he first loved us."

In fact, we would never love God except that He loved us first. He knew this and still loved us. That is amazing love!

Our salvation:

Ephesians 2:4-5
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)"

John 3:3
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Our new nature:

Colossians 3:9-10
"Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:"

Romans 7:22
"For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:"

John 3:6-7
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

How we bring glory to God by Christ Jesus:

Hebrews 10:24-25
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Ephesians 3:21
"Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."
